Fall's floral feast is winding down.
Goldenrod has largely gone to seed, and tickseed and sunflower aren't far behind.
But for the October traveler, there are still a few treats left on the dessert table.
For the fortunate few who spot it standing singly or perhaps in pairs on an autumn road bank, this aster's profusion of purple blossoms packs the punch of a dozen lesser plants.
The golden girls of summer may have left for the season,
but purple aster appears to be going nowhere at the moment.
And at least a few of us are pretty excited about that...
