Cycles of Life...

Recently hatched grasshopper nymphs


After hatching, grasshopper nymphs will molt 5 or more times. The bright green nymph pictured in the previous post is living perhaps its 4th incarnation, quite large, still flightless, but well-camouflaged. Less than half of nymphs will live to experience flight like this adult bird grasshopper.
